Long Beach Eco-Friendly Signage on Waterfront. Good to see Long Beach putting forth their good foot. Particularly since the Port of Long Beach is being marketed as a Green Harbor. Tough challenge to actually execute that as demand on the port continues to expand while their budgets plateau. Love this signage.

I go on evening bike rides around Long Beach for a few hours every night. Lots of interesting things to see. Sometimes beautiful. Sometimes ugly. Always Interesting. Here are some of the prettiest photos from last night, of the Long Beach waterfront. :)

Birthday Lunch for Brian at Coffee Cup Cafe, Long Beach

Mike P. put together another phenomenal video of our office life. It was to celebrate the birthday of my good buddy, Brian Roesler (of GlennRaps collaboration, and colleague at Qmania). Happy Birthday Brian! And again, amazing work Mike. Videographer extraordinaire -

For reference, I was caught a little off guard in my scene. It wasn’t cold in Long Beach’s coffee cup cafe – I was holding in my extreme fullness after eating a breakfast omelette mid-day. :) Oooh, the itis! Btw, if you ever get a chance to check out Coffee Cup Cafe in Long Beach, you should. The restaurant rocks for dates (my girlfriend can testify) or birthday lunches (per Brian).

Take a Break – Ride Your Bike

You’ve been browsing too long. Take a short break. Ride your bike for 30 minutes. It will relax you. It will bring ideas out of the nooks and crannies of your mind. It’ll benefit your health.

I’ve been bike riding along the Long Beach oceanfront bike path for a few weeks around 11 p.m. It’s invigorating. Thanks again Brian for letting me borrow your Beach Cruiser! :)

Michael C. Hall is Dexter and Loves Long Beach, CA

Dexter Cover

Thanks to TV series Dexter being filmed in Long Beach, my life here has had many Dexter-ous moments.

  • Stopping to watch a small plane fly a banner reading “Dexter” over shoreline village when I was heading downtown to meet with a friend (plane scene included in season 1)
  • Recognizing places in Long Beach that I’ve never been to before, but that were in the TV series.
  • Hearing stories about the filming of Dexter scenes in the Port of Long beach from my Longshoreman friends.
  • And of course, watching the series twice through in Long Beach, with two separate Long Beach fans of Dexter (girlfriend included, :)
  • Discussing Dexter to someone hip in Long Beach is the perfect ice-breaker. We’ve all heard about Dexter being filmed here, seen it being filmed, or have a great story about the show.

Today’s big moment for my Dexterity? Meeting Michael C. Hall!

Wow. My colleagues|friends have met many of their favorite celebrities near my office and my home, including Robin Williams, Glenn Close, Peter Gabriel, and Rainn Wilson. I’d saw Nick Lachey at Rock Bottom, but that wasn’t at all the same. I thought maybe the passing celebrity traffic might have died down after the TED conference. Not so! I’m so glad I got to meet one of my favorite actors! Thanks again for the time and pic Michael! Looking forward to watching Peep Show when it hits theatres!

Great way to start a Wednesday!
