…yet several hours in both of our evenings were usually wide open. Since we had the space to record, and plenty of time, I thought it would be a great idea to meet up and jam. We’d recorded improvisations when we lived in Long Beach (yielding great results) so I know we could again, so we did. Almost always, I recorded with the Voice Memo app of my iPhone; though sometimes I used my MacBook Air’s internal mic or a little Olypus digital voice recorder. Almost always, the music was completely improvised as it was recorded; though on a few tracks, there are tracks that reference sections of earlier improvisations, being recorded with more structure than raw improvisation. To add structure to the improvised music through this very personal album, I edited, looped, sliced, and arranged each of the original recordings. I feel this helps this music make more sense, and make for a more listenable album. It is my dear hope that the listener do enjoy this record and appreciate it for the very personal, unusual, perhaps naive, overly ambitious, and lo-fi — an audience, I expect, to be limited to you and I at different stages of our lives.
